Truth is not everyone wants to be encouraged. People enjoy their suffering and don’t want others ruining it. “Woe is me”, maybe you heard it before from a prophet named Isaiah though his was kinda different. Point is not everyone wants to be encouraged. People who are suffering often say the same thing, “you wouldn’t get it” it’s an excuse to say “you won’t confirm my bias” or “I don’t want your encouragement, let me suffer”. Let me tell you about bias, she is a real people pleaser. She will agree with everything you say as long as you don’t throw her away. She cuddles you when you’re wrong and pampers you like a victim calling everyone else evil. She looks so cute and harmless with her soft hands and big eyes. What you don’t see is how abusive she is. She holds you in a dark corner where no other words but hers can reach you, where you can hear no other sound but hers. She tells you “don’t look up, don’t bother with them I’m here” “ don’t listen to them, they don’t get it” “stay with me I’ll suffer with you”. She so abusive, manipulating your surroundings and calling light ugly and blinding. When encouragement comes it’s like a blinding light, it hurts for a second because it burns her skin. Like a snake she is wrapped around you prepping you for food. When encouragement hits she burns and hisses and she strangles tighter and tighter. Bias is a false god and idol of fake comfort who will never satisfy or bring you true comfort in your suffering. Encouragement is an honest man who smiles, a hard honest worker who does not give up. Truly I say to you he is the truth. When your friends send him to rescue you do not be afraid. He hold no grudge and his light is not to hurt you but shine a torch so you may see the path forward. He is a chain breaker and a relief. Reminding you of the hope, faith and identity you hold. Truly I say to you he is not proud nor does he stand above you. For how does one pick another up, must one not drop to the level of the fallen to grab their hand? So too is it with encouragement. He comes into the darkness as a shinning light and gives you a hand. Allow your eyes to adjust and behold your face will be radiant and you will see the smile that saves. So when you see him coming don’t listen to bias and don’t say “he doesn’t get it”, he gets it and that’s why he came. He is your liberation from bias and her relatives, bondage and lies.
